The Estes Park Memorial Observatory (EPMO) got a boost last week with a $822 donation from the Duck Race Fundraiser thru Estes Valley Sunrise Rotary. Pictured in front of the observatory are Lowell Richardson , president of the Sunrise Rotary, Michele Johnson and Mike Connolly from the Angels Above Foundation (AAF), operators of the observatory and Wes Kufeld head of the Rotary club Community Services. The club earmarked Duck Race tickets for two community projects and the EPMO got half of the funds raised.
The Park R3 School District has donated property adjacent to the Estes Park
high school to the AAF to build the EPMO. The observatory will be used for students
and the general public. It will be free to everyone and will be built and run
completely by volunteers and contributions. In addition to the property, the
high school has donated a $4000 telescope to the project. Almost $25,000 in
individual contributions have been collected from the Estes community.
